What needed to change
Northtrail moves freight with 12,400 vehicles across three countries. Routes were computed overnight and printed at 05:00 — by 09:00 they were fiction. Traffic, dock queues and same-day pickups meant drivers improvised, dispatchers firefought by phone, and 13% of deliveries missed their window.
Their ops director put it best in our first meeting: 'We plan like it's 1998 and drive like it's 2025, and we pay the difference in diesel.'

A constraint solver replans the entire network every 90 seconds — live traffic, dock capacity, driver hours and cold-chain limits in one optimization pass that lands in under 40 seconds.

The driver app that earns its place
Drivers keep a plan that quietly updates, with reroutes explained in one line. Adoption hit 97% in six weeks because it never asks for anything it can infer.
MOVE 03
A control tower, not a dashboard
Dispatch sees the fleet as a living map — exceptions surface themselves, ranked by cost, each with a one-click resolution the solver has already checked.
MOVE 04
Telemetry at freight scale
Positions, temperatures and door events stream through Kafka into ClickHouse — 1.4 billion events a month, queryable in under a second, kept for the lawyers and the data scientists alike.
What moved in daylight
SKYLARK cut fuel burn 17.3% and lifted on-time delivery from 87.1% to 96.4% — worth $8.2M in year one, before counting the contracts won on the new SLA. The overnight planning batch was decommissioned in March; nobody held a funeral.
